Art installation. It has since been moved from the 9th ward to the sculpture garden at the New Orleans Museum of Art.

I have things to say about all of these photos

This house does not look like it belongs in NOLA. That is why it belongs in NOLA.


This piece of art definitely changed my life. After I realized that things like this were all around, I could not stop exploring. Also, as you can see from the following photo, this fuel station is one of the most visually striking abandoned buildings in the city. The truck looks like it is out of a movie set or something and READER's message on the pumps just adds to the overall flavor of the place. I think the location is Washington and S. Galvez (yes I keep a map in my room)

Abandoned pool near Xavier. I have posted art from this area but not such a clear shot of the pool I don't think. Or maybe I have. Who cares?

This piece (no longer with us) lived very close to me. I loved seeing it almost every day because it reminded me that New Orleans is so special that people come here from other cities and risk arrest to help decorate the city.

Banksy when the paint was still fresh

George W. Bush is no longer there. The building is also scheduled to be knocked down.

I do not know why, but the refrigerator painting was painted over almost immediately. Someone didn't want to sell their wall for hundreds of thousands of dollars (or keep it).. fool.

Church or gay strip club?

only in Nola would you ever have trouble deciding whether something is a church or a gay strip club. Who approved this design?


This building has since been restored (at least partially)... YAY rebuilding!


I hope I am this cool when I am dead. I'm just putting it out there: I want a jazz funeral.

Things move fast

Unfortunately for art, but fortunately for the city, art is quickly lost by buildings being demolished. The pieces above and below were lost very soon after I took these photos. While I hate when good art is painted over, I don't mind tags being knocked down for the sake of rebuilding. In fact, rebuilding is almost always better than leaving the art up.

This is some work by READER on an abandoned Pizza Hut. The building has since been knocked down.
